Founder's Message

Benevolence Transitional Housing, Inc. was born from 15+ years witnessing young lives lost to gaps in our social service, justice and housing systems and from a childhood memory of love triumphing over scarcity. We grew up on Section 8 and food stamps; my father worked nights as a school custodian but made us breakfast every morning; my mother reinvented herself in her 40s from GED to RN, inspiring me to earn my criminal justice degrees as a single mother.
The word Benevolent came to me in the stillness of night a divine whisper that became our name and calling. Today, we provide trauma-informed housing and holistic support for unhoused young adults 17-23 in Allegheny County, recreating the stability, structure, and love that changed my life.
